Given how massively successful both Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon were, it's unsurprising Ubisoft would work on a sequel. And given that the number 4 comes after 3, it appears that the next Far Cry game will be called "Far Cry 4."

Cliff Martinez, composer of Drive, said he was "working on a video game called Far Cry 4" in an interview with Lost in the Multiplex. The quote has been deleted, but Joystiq has a screencap.

Ubisoft said that Far Cry would become one of the company's "major pillars," like Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed. With music already being composed for the next game, the real question now is when will Ubisoft officially announce the game?

Yes, yes, yes!!! Want, want, want!!!

Far cry 2 was such a disappointment but FC 3 and blood dragon were such awesome open world fps, I can't wait to hear more about the game.

I don't understand this. It seems to me like 3 kept all the awesome parts of 2 and ditched all the boring parts. And it's not nearly as hazy.

I agree that there's not much reason to explore.

But I did enjoy it for the unpredictable, emergent gameplay that came from the combination of stealth and shooting when taking outposts, and the other fun elements with animals and vehicles.

It definitely has a lot of room for improvement though, mainly by continuing to trim the fat like they did after FC2. Improved AI would also help alot.

Yeah the malaria system was soo cool as well as the almost instant respawning outpost, you would walk a few meters and BAM! everything destroyed was fixed and every guy you just killed still standing there, oh and what about the fact that stealth was nearly impossible. I admit I really like the setting of the game, but those issues prevented me from finishing the damn game.

I liked the buddy system, quite a sham what they did with it in the end. Wished FC3 had improved on that.

FC2 should be classified as a driving game, not a fps. That's exactly what you did 95% of the time in that game.

      Far Cr 3 was awesome.

My request for Far Cry 4 is to PLEASE add some sort of over-arching narrative to accompany the relics that are scattered throughout the world. The Batman: Arkham games approached this type of gathering system perfectly with their Riddler clues, with the Riddler getting more and more agitated as you gather them.

For Far Cry, they need some sort of rival archaeologist storyline where you compete with some Indiana Jones type asshole or some even some sort of ancient tribe of guardians that get increasingly protective the more relics you gather. Come on FC devs, I'm throwing free bones here to make my obsessive in-game collecting more justifiable.
