Strider is coming back. In a new eight minute gameplay video, you'll get to see what attendees of Tokyo Game Show got to play. In the demo Hiryu runs and slashes his way through a Metroidvania environment. Along the way, he'll collect various power-ups that allow him to access new parts of the level. For example, a charge attack will not only break through enemy shields, but power generators that unlock new doors. A slide attack will help you dodge bullet fire, but also bust through low grates that hide new passageways.

The video ends with a battle against a robotic dragon, and should give you a good idea of the kind of chaotic action Capcom is going for with their modern-day throwback.

That is the best thing I have ever seen since Strider on my Amiga. So happy this is coming out, just like I remember it - only better!

Ooooh... So they went Shadow Complex with more swords!

Watching that brought back so many memories, that sword slash, the dragon boss fight. I dropped a bunch of quarters in that thing at the local Pizza Hut.

Okay, so I know this demo was obviously intended to be a fast, frenetic run-through, and that taking the time to slice up all of those floating containers would be tedious to watch, but man, watching that was really making the completionist part of my gamer instincts squirm, especially when they were right there at ground level as he ran by.

      Does look hella fun, though!
