Xbox Games with Gold offers Crackdown & Dead Rising 2 in August

Xbox Live Gold members will be able to download Crackdown and Dead Rising 2 in August.

15

Like PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold now offers subscribers free games. Last month, members were able to get Defense Grid and Assassin's Creed 2 gratis. What's on tap for this month?

Tomorrow, Gold members will be able to download the original Crackdown ($15 value). Then on August 15th, subscribers will be able to pick up both Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero ($35 value). Unlike PlayStation Plus, these games can be kept forever, regardless of an ongoing Gold subscription.

Games with Gold will offer new games on the 1st and 15th of every month.

Amazing. I wonder how many people have only a handful to find still, many years later.

Basura! But free is free. Call em when the games are at least 1 year old.

Call 'em what? Basura? What other games do you think are garbage due to their age?

Is Dead Rising 2 any good? Dead Rising was okay at the time but I eventually grew to hate it.

What are the restrictions on this?

My live subscription ended a few weeks ago. If I got a trail code would I still be able to download these?

I like this program. I have played a few games I never tried before and for the first time in a long while felt like I actually got my monies worth out of a gold subscription.

Crackdown was my GOTY in 2007. The game was so damn good co-op. Tsuba and I did the complete 1200 points because it was just so much fun going for them all.

One of my the most satisfying games of this generation bar none

I feel like this is where MS failed. This promotion should have been called "Best of Xbox 360" and it would have perked up some ears.

Did they ever release the free games they promised? Wasn't it Halo 3 and something else?

They haven't put up Halo 3 yet, but yeah. There's been a different free game every couple of weeks for gold members. I believe the promo is still through the end of the year only.

First one was defense Defense Grid, and the current one is AC2 which is still available through today.

Hm I have wanted to play DR2 for a while but I'm tempted to wait and play Off The Record instead of the base game.
