We think we've figured out Sony's marketing strategy for PS4. Wait until Xbox announces something--and then one-up it.

At E3, Microsoft announced Xbox One will support up to a thousand friends--a tenfold increase over 360's hundred person limit. But what if you are the Tila Tequila of video games? Then, you'll be glad to know that PS4 will support two thousand friends.

As Gamespot points out, PS3 currently supports a hundred friends like Xbox 360. But Sony isn't content with simply matching Xbox for the coming generation. Two thousand friends it is, then.

Andrew Yoon was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

As much as I want the new Kinect, Sony is making their offering extremely attractive...

You are the first person I've seen who says that they actually want the new Kinect. I'm not even joking.

Well if it's a choice between more features or less features I'm generally going to go with more, but that's just me.

I want it. Kids love the crappy broken one and I'm interested enough to see if they can deliver as promised this time around.

I don't think I broke 40+ friend on 360. Not too worried about this one.

it was easy to hit 100 friends if you started adding shackers to play. sucks having to start deleting people.

There's no point in having my friends in my list save for about 5-6 of them. All they do is watch Netflix.

I end up just deleting them after a while...tired of seeing them either playing crappy games or watching Netflix/Hulu...

More importantly this is the first solid confirmation that the PS4 has party chat and it doesn't require PS+.

"The Playstaton 4 will have a 500GB HDD drive at launch"

HDD drive? Is that like a PIN number and an ATM machine?

I nominate "The Tila Tequila of video games" as the worst game journo analogy since Ben Dutka calling Killzone 2 "The Citizen Kane of video games".

It's strange but.. I've always kind of hated Sony in the past... and I underneath still see the Sony I always hated... I just don't care this time. I want that PS4 so bad. They might still be evil, but they've made just enough good choices to win me over for now. I think it might be the slight flavor of humility which is new for them. They wear it well.

I haven't been this excited for a console since the 360 was about to come out.

I pretty much feel exactly the same way. The Sony snobbery was too much in the PS1-PS2 days for just about every electronic they made.

It's a cheap lame shot but I still smiled. It's like a joke long gone past from 2009. I respect it for being a classic. B+ would smile again.
