Razer is a company that makes gaming peripherals, such as mice and keyboards, headphones and controllers. However, fans have noticed a lack of PlayStation 3 accessories from the company. CEO Min-Liang Tan has a logical explanation.

"One of the big reasons why we don't make Playstation accessories is because I don't really spend time with mine," he tweeted (via The Escapist). The comment came after he said he was "dusting off" his PS3 to play The Last of Us.

Tan responded to the ensuing backlash by saying that Razer could develop controllers for the PS4 because he was encouraged by what he saw at E3, but there have to be games that interest him on a console for him to play it. In response to a comment that as a business, Razer should develop for all customers, he responded: "You're assuming it's just a business for us :) If it were, we'd be a much larger company than who we are today."

Overall, though, Tan said he was still a PC gamer at heart.

^^^this, while I love their designs their built quality can be a bitch
after 10 years of only using Razer (boomslang, deathadder, imperator) I went with Logitech, if only because of the resilience of their stuff.

I went through 3 Nagas inside two and a half years, and I'm not particularly rough on them. I liked them when they were working well, but 3 in such a short time found me switching to a Logitech G600.

It's the worst when it happens in MechWarrior. I'll just suddenly NOT STOP TURNING. FUCK FUCK FUCK.

It sucks, because I love this keyboard otherwise.

I was a Logitech man or a while, but the hair trigger buttons on the Razer mice are just unbeatable IMO. I love my Taipan too, Logitech don't really do nice ambidextrous gaming mice.

They give me carpel tunnel syndrome when I'm gaming with them. For normal work stuff they're comfortable, but if I have to click around a lot, I find them very straining.

I have to at least applaud his honesty. I've seen this once before in another mobo mfr way back in the early 2000's. He didn't want to do business with us because he didn't feel the need to have a much larger company. Crazy. But, I guess if the business is your passion you keep it to what you know you can manage.

Wish I had that kind of problem (having a nice small successful business that I fully control that is).

Yeah, that's what happened with me. Between them not releasing ambidextrous mice anymore (perhaps because Min-Liang Tan isn't left handed) and my Blackwidow Ultimate having the left shift key repeatedly pop out of its armature pegs (perhaps because Min-Liang Tan only ever uses the right shift key), I went to the Steelseries Sensei and WASD Keyboards. Haven't looked back (well, maybe once earlier this week at a Blackwidow Ultimate 2013, but I recoiled at the potential of THAT keyboard breaking).

Razer changed design goals drastically after Robert Krakoff became less visible in the company.

I ONLY play on console. The only PC games I play are old classics, and games I get on sale at GOG. The reason being that all PC games nowadays are essentially one-time use codes, meaning, you pay $60, get a code in return, and enter that into a DRM like Steam or Origin and it's tied to your account forever. That $60 you just paid is essentially lost.

Most PC games only cost $50 at launch as apposed to their console counterparts which are $60. That and the fact that 2 months later you can get them for $30 makes it way more worth it. I'd much rather get games cheaper than have to worry about reselling them if that's what you're refering to.

With console games, you lose $55 of your $60 if you ever trade them in at fucking Gamestop.

I believe if its within the first couple of months after release it's 30-35 you get back. Not a bad deal if you will never play it again anyway.

How does the fact that you can buy AAA games a few months old for ridiculously low prices during sales not factor into any of that? Is there something forcing you to buy stuff on launch day?

Sure enough, you can buy stuff used on consoles as well, but you made it sound like PC gaming is buying one full priced title after another. I've paid 10-20 euros for game collections which have given me hundreds if not thousands of hours of fun... Nothing on consoles can match that as far as value goes. Then there's the while indie game and mod culture full of completely free stuff you can enjoy.

Don't get me wrong, I've got 2 current gen consoles and I play on them a fair amount, I'm not a PC gamer any more than I'm a console one, but it's just plain wrong saying that console gaming is the way to go if you want to save money on the games themselves - quite the opposite.

console: even months after release it still costs $60, you sell it a year later when you no longer want it for $10, you are down $50 and are unable to play the game again
pc: buy it months after release for $20 on a sale, boohoo can't sell it, yet you are down only $20 and will be able to play it forever

I still pay full price for some games but only if I really support everything they're doing with them eg Deus Ex, XCOM, Witcher. I wouldn't sell those games even if I could so that still doesn't make a difference.

Sounds like a bogus excuse because it doesn't make sense for a CEO to not target a market because he doesn't play that console much. Console manufacturers have some form of licensing fee, and maybe razer doesn't like the terms or doesn't want to pay the fees.
