Xbox 360 system update beta signups open today

If you want to be rid of Microsoft Points sooner rather than later, fire up your Xbox 360 today and join the public beta test for the fall system update which will retire them. This time signups are directly through the Xbox 360 dashboard, though this it rolling out across the globe in waves so you may not see it in your region yet.

If you want to be rid of Microsoft Points sooner rather than later, fire up your Xbox 360 today and join the public beta test for the fall system update, which will retire them. This time signups are directly through the Xbox 360 dashboard, though this it rolling out across the globe in waves so you may not see it in your region yet.

Xbox Live's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb noted that, as well as replacing Microsoft Points purchases with cash money sales, the update also includes "updates to improve overall performance."

He also says that an FAQ with more information will be online here later today but as it isn't yet he just linked to a broken page. What an odd way to go about things.

Only a limited number of spaces are available in the beta spaces and signups will close once they're filled, so jump on it fast if you're interested.
