The new Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS will launch in 2014, Nintendo announced today during its E3 presentation. And a new character has been introduced to the roster: Mega Man will be joining the fight.

The game was announced back in 2011, and is being developed by Namco Bandai. Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai said that the team didn't want to lose focus by adding non-Nintendo characters "willy nilly" to the game, so they must have given some thought to adding Capcom's Mega Man.

Does that mean he'd be your favorite character? I mean, he'd be mine.

Him or the Animal Crossing guy. He looks like he fights by stumbling all over the place which is pretty much how I play fighting games.

This video gives a lot more detail on the new game and characters straight from the developer himself. It's pretty interesting and makes me want the game even more.

All the characters will be in both versions but some stages will be exclusive. Crossplay looking less likely? There will be some kind of connectivity but crossplay might not be it.

I wonder if this means more Capcom characters will be included.

Megaman was a cool but obvious choice. I want to see someone from the Belmont clan!

      OOOMMMMFFFFFGGGGGG!!!!!

ive never had interest in purchasing consoles for my self (my brother and i drooled over SNES / 64 cause that was christmas present type stuff) and i play 99% of games on PC...

BUT... that 1%... is super smash brothers

Super Smash Brothers was basically the reason i got a Wii... and now i fear that nintendo will again be forcing me, like a pusher forces a junkie, to buy a Wii U just for smash bros.

I'll try to hold out as long as i can (with the help of my poor bank account) but i will eventually cave.

They really sumberd down brawl compared to mele. I hope they go back toward depth, like allowing combos....

        what combos were in melee?

i enjoyed brawl more overall... i didnt think that wave-dashing was pretty lame in melee. the only problem i have with brawl is that too many of the stages are too dangerous to the players, and the random chance to trip was kinda dumb.

i dont mind if things like that are in a game, if there's an option to disable them.
