So what do you get with a $400 launch PS4? A Japanese press release (PDF, via Engadget) details the contents inside the box. Most importantly, you'll get a 500GB hard drive--same as what the Xbox One is launching with. There's also one DualShock 4 controller, important for, y'know, playing games.

The box will also include a USB cable to connect the DualShock 4 to the PS4. And, for the first time ever in a PlayStation console, the system will include HDMI cables (goodbye composite cables?). Finally, it appears Sony's packing in a headset of some sort as well--mirroring Xbox 360, which bundled a headset with every system.

A PlayStation Eye camera is not included in the box, which contributes to PS4's cheaper launch price compared to Xbox One. Those will be sold separately for $59, but a camera is not required for PS4. Additional controllers will also cost $59.

I think you mean goodbye composite cables, but yeah, I'm wondering if there will even be an analog option on the console...

I'm sure there will be I guess, a lot of people gaming on tubes that could still sell enough weed to get the PS4.

It's a bit surprising that they're not packing in the PS Eye. In most of the promotional images, the PS Eye is sitting right alongside the controller and the box. Why bother splitting your install base again by making it an optional thing? I understand they want to keep the price of the box down, but now I think it's obvious it's not an integral part of the console experience and developers aren't going to take advantage of it. The box btw, I don't think looks great. Like many mentioned it looks like an italicised Xbox One lol.

Those indie games though? Love that stuff! :)

Andrew, I don't know about you, but I don't want to pay $400 for a PS3 at this moment

I remember getting a copy of Talladega Nights on Blu-ray. That counts... for something, right?

            (And backwards compatibility but shh...)
