The next Scribblenauts could add a dose of superheroism with the addition of characters from DC comics. 5th Cell is reportedly working on a game to feature the pop culture icons, and will debut it for PC, Wii U, and 3DS at this year's E3.

Citing multiple sources, IGN reports that the game was called "Scribblenauts Unmasked" at one point, though that name could change. Its original concept was to star Max as he helps various characters from DC canon, but the main character and content may change. The focus on DC superheroes, though, will remain.

The sources cite a few examples. One has Max in the Gotham sewers, with Killer Croc standing in the way. Max whips up a dynamite sandwich to send him into a rage, which gets him arrested. Then Robin shows up to let Max inside Wayne Manor. Another situation involves Max attempting to figure out which of two police officers is Clayface. He uses an X-ray, naturally, and then freezes the monster with a freeze-gun. Other characters mentioned include Aquaman, Black Manta, Harley Quinn, and Mr. Freeze.

The game is still undergoing changes, so even if the rumor pans out, it's hard to tell what we'll see at E3. Scribblenauts dabbled with iconic characters in Scribblenauts Unlimited, which featured Nintendo characters. Scribblenauts is published by Warner Bros, which DC Comics, so it seems like a good fit.
