Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D to feature co-op, easy mode

The Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D description has revealed that the game will offer local co-op, an easy mode, new moves, and a surprise for finishing the tough Trophy stages.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is the next port to the system from Nintendo's back catalog. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64 3D were both retrofitted with new features, but DKCR is a much more recent game. What new bits and baubles is Nintendo adding to this one?

The official description from Nintendo (via NeoGAF) promises new "content" created for the 3DS, local co-op, and special abilities like a "barrel roll." An easier mode increases your life bar, and lets you purchase items that can save you from falls, allow an extra hit to the minecart and rocket barrel, and even summon new DK barrels in a snap.

It also reveals that if you finish each of the especially tough Trophy levels after gathering the K-O-N-G pieces, you'll get some sort of "new surprise." After New Super Mario Bros 2, hopefully Nintendo has learned its lesson and will offer more than a mere title screen change.

Will probably get this since I don't have it on the Wii. Hopefully we see more ports, like Kirby's Epic Yarn.

Hmmm it's bound to have "waggle-free" controls. I might pick this up! I liked the game, but the stupid waggling in such a platformer killed it for me :(

It wasn't as bad as everyone said it was, you just have to get used to the minimum waggle sensitivity.

oh I played it. I just stopped cause i would've liked the option to bind the waggle to one of the free buttons on the classic controller.

Personally, I didn't have any trouble with the shake controls, but I agree it was pretty stupid not to let people use the Classic Controller if that's what they preferred. I don't understand why they made that decision.
