Gearbox's critically-panned Aliens: Colonial Marines will no longer see release on Wii U. A port for Nintendo's HD console was originally supposed to release in March, but Sega has finally confirmed that it is no longer happening, telling both Kotaku and Polygon about the game's new status.

The port was being handled by Demiurge Studios, and was supposedly the best-looking version of the game. Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford claimed that Demiurge "did amazing work," but that the Wii U release would be up to Sega to "figure out."

Given Wii U's light library, a new game might have been welcomed by Nintendo fans. However, given the game's horrendous reviews, perhaps Nintendo owners were spared.

I'm not sure whether to be excited that POS isn't coming, or sad that even shovelware isn't appearing on the Wii U...

Same. Such a mix of feelings as I've looked forward to some of the Wii U features it had going on but that was before the game came out.

Gotta pay Nintendo to release the game, right? Save the money and reward the shareholders instead.

More money down the drain thank you GearBox! And Randy continues to lie! I've heard many times the wii u version ran even more poorly then the 360 and looked even worst. I guess he talked his way out of this one again, Sega's just going to sit there and take it up the you know what..

I'm usually one to chime in about the lack of ports the Wii U is getting but I'm okay with this.

Wasn't there some massive patch that got pushed out for this a few weeks ago that fixed a ton of things and made the game look much better on PC? Anyone played it post patch?

If you consider over saturated bloom & film grain an improvement then it may look better to you.

No one cares about Wii U, glad to see it's not going there. Today it's all about the PC, XBOX 720, and PS4. Now get to it Gearbox working on those DX11 High Resolution graphics.

Don't even get dressed today, stay indoors. Buy your products online, you can do it right from your PS3. And, by god, don't contribute a thing please.

Sleep in your clothes from the previous day. Build up a sense of false accomplishment and alienate your family and friends. Eat solely from the microwave. Now you're on the right track!

Gaming is good and going places. I love capitalism.
