With about 24 hours to go, inXile Entertainment is making one final push to hit $4 million in its Torment: Tides of Numenera crowdfunding campaign, releasing a new screenshot and the vision document for the project.

The project blew through the $3.5 million it need to bring former PlaneScape Torment lead designer Chris Avellone on board to add a new companion and provided feedback on the game. The total now sits around $3.8 million once you add in the more than $89,000 received in PayPal donations.

The new screenshot of the Sagus Cliffs (and accompanying video below) offer a bit of contrast to the somewhat creepy Bloom beast shown a few days ago. And if you have some spare time and are really into where inXile is taking the game, then take a gander at the 27-page vision document the company released, particularly the final section on community involvement.

It looks like the Kickstarter won't reach the "player stronghold" level of $4.5 million, but the $4 million goal (another city and more music) certainly has a chance. InXile has already pushed back the release date of the game from its original December 2014 date because of the large number of stretch goals already attained.

Not far now. 4.25 million and they get crafting as well.

I don't know, with the momentum projects seem to have on the last day I think it'll pass 4.5 mil!

Hope it does. More content for a game like this will be awesome.

I still have my doubts doing multiple of these before one is delivered, but inxile has certainly cracked the kickstart code to keep rolling.

      Good for them!

The definitely found a winning formula alright -- appealing to hardcore 90s cRPG players by presenting projects staffed by developers of some of the greatest 90s cRPGs ever made.

I doubt anyone else can replicate this, without playing it very similar as far as genre and staff. Wasteland 2, Project Eternity, and Torment are the only Kickstarters I am remotely willing to back (and did) because of the proven devs they have on board. I'm never going to back a no-name, unproven company no matter how slick their pitch.

The guys behind HEI$T can do no wrong in my opinion.

As they explained, most people on the team who do pre-production/concepts/dialogue are finished with their work on Wasteland 2, so they're not really doing anything right now. It's common for pre-production to start on a new project as the previous project is finishing up.

Are the non-kickstarter pledges counted here? I doubt it right? I wonder what those totals are like.

There's around 90k to 100k on PayPal that is counted.

The 3.8 million in my story included PayPal.

I don't think they'll make it, but I'd be very pleased if they get to the voluminous codex.

Looking perhaps on target paypal is 125k now and they've nearly hit 4 million on kickstarter.

Pretty much hit 4 million with paypal which will add a new city to the game. Still going as well for more stretch goals.

Is it just me or is the average pledge insanely high?

That's crazy. Hopefully this shows people there is still a market, although it's niche, for strong story based RPGs.

I'm quite happy if kickstarter remains the only place for these types of games to get funded. I don't want publishers getting involved and saying it has to have A and B before we can market it. Then we end up with Dragon Age 2 again.
