Oculus Rift development kits shipping

Oculus Rift development kits were sent out during GDC week, though tracking numbers largely haven't been sent to backers yet.

Oculus Rift development kits were delayed into March, and the company just barely made it in under the buzzer. The company announced on Friday that kits were being sent out during the Game Developers Conference, which left them little time to alert backers that the kits were in the mail.

A blog post reveals that some kits have already been arriving, and Oculus itself was unable to send out tracking numbers yet. If you backed the project, you might find one sitting on your doorstep when you get home today. The blog does note, however, that shipping out 10,000 kits will take some time.

The company recently cut Doom 3: BFG from its dev kits, offering $20 in Steam credit, $25 in Oculus Store credit, or a full refund of the initial pledge. But the very same day, Valve announced a "VR Mode" using Oculus Rift for Team Fortress 2.
