Deus Ex: Human Defiance trademark is movie adaptation

Deus Ex: Human Defiance is the Human Revolution film adaptation's title, according to domain registrations from CBS Films.

The other day, we reported on a trademark for Deus Ex: Human Defiance, and noted the possibility that it was simply the film adaptation. We hoped we were instead seeing the first signs of a sequel, but bad news: according to new domain registrations, it's the film title.

Superannuation tweeted the two domains. They're both registered to CBS Films, but in case that left any room for doubt, the second domain is for "deusexhumandefiancefilm.com." It's odd that CBS changed the title to one so similar for an adaptation of Human Revolution, but it doesn't seem we'll be getting a game out of this one.

The Wiki "List of films based on video games" is almost - almost - exactly the same as the "List of terrible films based on video games".

There are exceptions, of course, Silent Hill and Mortal Kombat (the first ones) spring to mind.

I'm thinking there will be a game and a movie, the name itself was trademarked by Square Enix

And under goods and services it says "Computer games software"

I love this trailer. I loved it before I played the game, and even more after.

It's so much better than it probably should have been, and I hope the focus of the movie is on the Purity First movement, as at least that would explain the name.

They should just base the movie on this trailer. I'd watch it like 50 times.

I actually hope they do take this as a concept piece for the movie. Do it documentary/propaganda style, maybe sort of like District 9, to a degree.

No-one, he won't be in the film and the filmmakers will realise that trying to transplant him into a movie is a bad idea. They will realise the potential in the universe and just make the film an expansion of what's been done rather than a replacement.

This is almost a guarantee, if anything the film exists just to push the brand further out beyond gamer nerds to enable higher sales for later games.
