Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity will be released for the 3DS on March 24, Nintendo has announced.

Just about everyone has at least tried out the main Pokemon series, which has its roots in traditional old-school RPGs. You may not have tried out its rogue-like spin-off, the Mystery Dungeon series. The fourth installment, or sixth if you count the pairs separately, is coming to the 3DS on March 24.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity will be the series first foray onto the 3DS, before the system has even gotten a proper Pokemon game of its own. You'll choose from five Pokemon to play as, between Pikachu, Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig, or Axew, and explore 20 randomly generated dungeons. The game makes use of the 3DS camera, tasking players with scanning objects in the real world to open "Magnagates" for access to the dungeons. The announcement also teases multiplayer features, but plays them close to the vest. Like many recent Nintendo first-party games, it will be available both at retail and as a download on the eShop.
