Dust 514 coming in October, says Sony

Sony president Jack Tretton says Dust 514 is scheduled for release next month.

Dust 514 has gone through an extended beta period, and appears almost ready for launch. Though developer CCP hasn't put a date on the game yet, SCEA president Jack Tretton recently suggested it's aiming for sometime next month.

In an interview with Fox Business (via IGN), Tretton touted the PlayStation 3's push into free-to-play games and cited Dust as an example. He then casually mentioned that it's "coming next month."

Mind you, Tretton also called it a "full-blown first-person shooter available on PlayStation 3 that not only allows you to play against your friends on PS3, but also against people on the PC." That isn't strictly accurate, but close enough for an appearance in a non-gamer news segment.

The game will have to be widely available soon, as new PS3 bundles include $30 of DLC for use in the game. Those consoles launch this week.

Tretton is likely privy to release schedules, but this isn't quite an official release date announcement. Take it with a grain of salt until we hear official word. We have reached out to CCP for a confirmation.
