Ah, yes. It's been too long since our last compilation of classic games, hasn't it? Thankfully, Warner Bros has announced Midway Arcade Origins, a compilation of classic arcade games from Midway. Coming soon for $30, Midway Arcade Origins will pack "more than 30" games, including Gauntlet, Rampage, Joust, Spy Hunter, Defender, and Marble Madness.

The games will support local multiplayer and online leaderboards. And yes, there are achievements and trophies. However, the most noteworthy thing about this announcement is this snazzy trailer, filled with all sorts of shiny 3D graphics. What better way to celebrate retro gaming?

I got fond memories of many of these games like anyone else, but the whole nostalgia thing is getting played out. Some additional content or extras would go a long way to make this special.

I don't care about any kinds of extras as long as I get to play Paper Boy and Total Carnage, which no doubt will be included.

I said that mostly because I've already got most of the games I'd care to play through other collections or single releases.

Midway must've bought Atari's and Williams' old catalogs, is all i can figure. ah yes. "Midway also acquired the rights to video games that were originally developed by Williams Electronics and Atari Games, such as Defender, Joust, Robotron 2084, Gauntlet and the Rush series."
