Plague Inc. spreading to Android

Plague Inc, the popular iOS game created by Shacker jamiejme (aka James Vaughan, head of Ndemic Creations), is coming to Android.

Plague Inc. has been a popular game on iOS, having previously hit the #1 spot on the Apple App Store's top paid games list. Now, the title is coming to Android.

Developer Ndemic has signed an agreement with Miniclip to port the game to the Android platform later this month. Plague Inc. performed "beyond expectations, and we now expect big results for the game on Android," Ndemic CEO James Vaughan said.

For those who haven't played it yet, players must cultivate and spread a disease to wipe out everyone on the planet. For more on the game and the Shacker that created it, read our Community Spotlight.

I like the idea of it but I can't say as I enjoy playing a game that requires me to do things EXACTLY right just to move on to the next level. I feel like there is almost 0 room for error on decisions.

I've actually been quite surprised by how many different strategies people use to win. One player in particular used a strategy that I had never even remotely considered (they get lots of points, then let the cure finish, then reinfect the world and get double the points )

Beating all the levels, even brutal, can be done following virtually the same strategy for each pathogen. spoiler: Start in a country with a seaport and airport. Kick air and water transmission up to max levels and de-evolve any symptom except coughing. That should infect the whole world without notice. You really do not need any other transmission method. Your DNA points should be at or above 100 by then. Then evolve symptoms to include something deadly, and evolve your attributes to slow down research. Nano-virus and Bio-weapon are a bit different early on, but the premise is basically the same.

yep, its cool. Basically, they are letting the cure happen and then getting genetic re-shuffle before it cures everyone. This disables the cure and then they can infect people again

So, I've done some status updates mid flow (e.g. 1.2 million downloads to date ,12 million games played) but I haven't done a post mortem for the simple reason that Plague Inc. is still very much alive and selling strongly 2 months after release. I've got lots of plans for updates and new disease types as well.

What questions are you particularly wanting to see answered?

As a PC gamer, I would love to do PC. PC, XBLA and others are on the cool list of things to do - time is my biggest constraint at the moment!

Oh and if you need someone for German localization, let me know. I've translated videogame/non-videogame related stuff before and am an iOS developer myself.

Cool. I don't play a lot of mobile games (practically none, really), but I wanted to try this one. I really enjoyed the Pandemic Flash games.
