QuakeCon 2012 is only a few weeks away now, and id Software has shared more details on the upcoming event. Namely, a high-profile game demo and a few panelists have been announced, including John Carmack Marty Stratton from id, Ted Price from Insomniac, Chet Faliszek and Tom Leonard from Valve, and journalist Geoff Keighley.

John Carmack will kick off the event with his keynote address. Other panels include The Game of Making Games, Designing Multiplayer Games That Last, Bonus Round, and the Idle Thumbs Podcast Live. Plus, attendees will have a chance to check out Dishonored from parent company Bethesda Softworks.

QuakeCon is set to take place August 2-5 in Dallas, TX. Just a few days ago the annual tournaments were announced, with $30,000 total in prize money.

Nick Breckon will bust in with a saxophone, and he will crush Kenny G's world record for the longest sustained note.

It's not his show (though I'm not sure who's running QuakeCon this year).

I don't know, he's pretty good. Even if he was running the show, it doesn't seem like something he'd do.

The last Qcon I went to was when they were showing off the Doom 3 walk through in that little mini theater thing where the shotgun sound was so loud it felt like your ear drum would burst. It'll be kind of cool to go back and see them previewing the same fucking game that they did a decade ago.
