After launching the Angry Birds into space, it appears Rovio is ready to work on a brand new IP. Amazing Alex is the star of Rovio's newest game, yet another physics-based puzzler. You won't be launching animals at each other, however. Instead, you'll be playing with Rube Goldberg devices. "From cleaning up his room to playing in his backyard, Alex creates amazing chain reactions to get the job done with the maximum amount of fun."

Amazing Alex first started life as Casey's Contraptions, before Rovio acquired the dev. You'll be able to use a variety of toys and tools to create whatever elaborate solution you want for the game's puzzles. Once you're done, you'll be able to share your solutions with friends.

In addition, you'll also be able to build and share original levels as well, using 35 different objects. With regular free updates planned, and the ability to play user-generated content, it appears Amazing Alex will offer far more content than Rovio's last few games.

There's no price announced yet, but the game will be available on iOS and Android this July. Additional platforms are likely to be announced later.

Andrew Yoon was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.
