Ninja Gaiden 3 'Dragon Sword' accessory spotted at retail

A Canadian retailer has listed a "Dragon Sword" edition of Ninja Gaiden 3, which packs in a bloody foam Move attachment. However, it isn't listed anywhere else, giving us cause for skepticism.

Ninja Gaiden 3 is just a week away, and you've had two games to polish your ninjitsu skills to their peak. How can you further enhance your foe-slicing experience? Why, with a bloody sword accessory, of course.

The Canadian retailer Video Games Plus (via Joystiq) has listed the PlayStation 3 "Dragon Sword" edition of the game, which includes a bloody foam blade that attaches to your Move controller. The listing touts that it's "universally compatible with all PS3 games," which is true for pretty much all controller dongles. Still, if you always wanted a blood-drenched sword to represent your racket in Sports Champions, there you go.

Now for the bad news: the accessory and bundle doesn't seem to be available anywhere else, including the Canadian Amazon and EB Games. None of the Collector's Edition details mentioned a fake sword. It seems likely that this is some kind of mistake or unofficial item. Shacknews has contacted Tecmo regarding the accessory, and will update as more information becomes available.

It's by Interworks and they've released plenty of these types of accessories in the US so it will likely be out here (here's the UPC US distributors have for it: 896557099020). Although their website doesn't have it yet you can see all of their other cheap plastic accessories at eagl3.com.
