Dejobaan's free-falling "semi-sequel" AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome has launched today on a Steam with a tidy discount. Awesome travels from the original's spires of Upper Boston to the Moon and beyond, with "shiny new graphics," faster speeds, new levels, and other lovely newness.

Awesome takes place six years after AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity, in an alternate 2017, when base jumping has been outlawed. The obvious form of protest, then, is to jump far above the Earth, through the stratosphere, over the moon, and across Ganymede, spraying graffiti and deploying obscene gestures as you rack up points.

As well as 42 new levels, Awesome has "remastered" the original's 82 levels in its shiny new graphics. Awesome ramps up the speed too, and its fastest levels have checkpoints so a little massive cranial trauma needn't ruin your whole jump.

Dejobaan isn't flying solo on Awesome, having recruited Owlchemy Labs as a wingman to help bring AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! into the Unity engine. This move will also enable an iOS edition of Awesome, Touch Arcade reports, which will use tilt controls.

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome is available now on Steam for only $4.99, down from the regular price-to-be of $9.99.

I just realized that the capitalization actually follows a pattern. I dislike the name less now.

Awriite. One of my favorite games in terms of moving and flying around, and being able to finish a play session in less than 10 minutes. I hope they're still working on "1, 2, 3, Kick It!...", as the music-generated level concept is pretty fun.

I think that prior to this, Dejobaan had been running their Windows game releases on a version of 3D Game Studio. It runs very nicely in Aaaaa!!!, but in other ways, you can see some of its age. I'll have to see how the Unity engine version performs.

I just finished playing a little bit of AAAAA!!! for the Awesome; it's VERY nice. The Unity engine version has better lighting and looks a lot cleaner than the old engine. You can turn up the detail, though this may result in a slower framerate; I have a GTX 285 and had to turn down the detail one step from max to get closer to 60 FPS all the time.

Also, major upgrade from the original: configurable keybinds! The original game didn't have configurable keys.

The old engine is the ass-tastic 3D Game Studio A7 or A8.

Granted, I think I've only used...er...A5 or A6, and it was such a pain-in-the-ass to use for education (which they advertise as it being good for [hint: it's not]).
