Grasshopper Manufacture has been a bunch of busy bees lately. Not only did it recently ship Shadows of the Damned, the studio has a number of games in the works, including Lollipop Chainsaw and Sine Mora. Today, the Japanese studio helmed by Suda51 has announced one more game: Black Knight Sword.

"It's a throwback to the old-school classic side-scrolling action games. It has a very nostalgic feel," Akira Yamaoka said.

Like Sine Mora, the hack-and-slash platformer is being co-developed by Digital Reality. The Facebook page for the game describes it as "a throwback to the classic platformers for the 8 and 16-bit era of games, Black Knight Sword harkens a simpler time when simple yet addictive and challenging gameplay dominated the scene. Join the Black Knight in this fairy tale quest to defeat the Evil White Princess in an imaginative world brought to life in true Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda 51 style."

If you've played Shadows of the Damned, you'll likely recognize the style being used for the game. There were two side-scrolling areas to that game which also touted a similar paper style.

Black Knight Sword will be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade "this winter."
