Duke Nukem Forever patch now available

The patch that upgrades Duke Nukem's weapon inventory slots has been released, Gearbox has announced.

It's now time for the easiest joke of the day! "Want a Duke Nukem Forever patch that adds a handful of features, including the ability to carry up-to four weapons? Well, come get some!"

Now that we've covered that: Gearbox has announced that the recently promised patch for the PC version of Duke Nukem Forever is now available. The Steamworks-enabled title should automatically update upon the launch of the Steam platform.

According to the official patch notes from Gearbox, the following changes and fixes are coming to the PC version of the game.

  • 4-weapon inventory option for single player

  • MP Server favorites

  • Dedicated server overhaul

  • FOV can be modified

  • Change VOIP to push-to-talk (bandwidth fix)

  • VAC anti-cheat system enabled

  • Support for Japanese Steam ID’s for PC release in Japan

  • Auto-aim fix

  • Blood effects on surfaces behind enemies when shot

  • Steam.exe no longer uses an unusually high amount of CPU

  • Texture quality improvements

  • Fixes to prevent single player and multiplayer save data corruption

  • Leaderboard exploit fixed

  • AMD Dual-Core Optimizer no longer automatically installed (fixes rare bugs with Intel processors)

  • Crash/compatibility fixes and other minor bugs

No further details for a Xbox 360 or PS3 patch were revealed. The only thing we know for certain that will not be featured in the console patch is a similar upgrade to Duke's weapon inventory slots.

            i have no idea if console commands or whatnot can set it further, but the UI goes from 55 (i think) to 90

      Damn. No disable QTE's option? I'd be motivated to finish this game if they removed the spacebar mashing shit.

      The Witcher 2 allowed QTE's to be disabled. If it was HOLD space I could live with it.

          i'm at the part where you have to stop the elevator from crashing and the bitch is screaming PULL IT AGAIN!             pull it until the meter almost maxes out ("overheats"). then let the meter drop, then pull it again. repeat, always letting the meter almost max out. 3-4 of these should do it.

            that's a particularly obtuse puzzle.

              It killed me the first time because I didn't let it overheat. I figured keep the brake up as much as possible was the best way to do it. Boom...dead!

          I am a huge champion of this wonderful game and even I was annoyed at whapping the space bar. It's Duke's Persian Flaw.

          Easy for you to say. But with my disability doing these is equivalent to asking you to curl 200 lbs weights 10 times in 5 seconds.

          They are an unnecessary struggle in an otherwise fun game.

      i can't help but notice that i am still limited to 2 weapons. do i have to do something special other than just pick up a third and fourth weapon like normal? when i pick up the third weapon, he drops the one he's holding

      One very minor annoyance; It doesn't save weapon slots. I'd like to keep pistol on 1, ripper on 2, shotgun on 3 and heavy weapons on 4 but level transitions juggle them around. The expanded FoV is nice too; 1920x1200 with it on 90 and it feels much better.
