Set 25 years before the events of the original Deus Ex, the world of Human Revolution may require some explanation, even for series vets. A new dev diary released by Square Enix focuses on the rise of augmentations, and the two companies that vie for control over the market: Sarif Industries and Tai Yong Medical.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution launches on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 August 23.
