Fresh Duke Nukem Forever footage laces an interview with Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford

Between clips of Duke urinating and shooting flying pigs, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford says he feels both "gratified and humbled" to be a part of the experience of bringing Duke Nukem Forever to gamers.

After a long wait--and a recent, shorter wait--Duke Nukem Forever is just around the corner. You can hear the excitement in Pitchford's voice in the PR-released "interview" video 2K Games sent over earlier today.

Either Duke Nukem will be exactly what gamers have expected, or Pitchford is gleefully and diabolically hatching his invasion of Hell when the underworld finally freezes on June 14 (June 10, internationally) due to the game's actual release.

I have found that the more developers 'talk' about their video games, the shitty they are. Why is this? The game can't speak for themselves.

Randy is such a straight shooter though, he would never lie or release a game in an unfinished state it would be against all he stands for.

pretty much every high profile title these days has a lot of dev talk (between interviews and other videos) - surely they aren't all shit.

          Yes. I agree.

But to my original post, there must be some correlation between x (total amount of time dev's run their mouths) and y (overall quality of product).

I would add, it's not always the quantity in which they talk about it, more like the frequency and time before launch.

The longer that period is, the worse the game is.

I kinda agree, but not sure if it fits here since 3D realms did most of the work on this game, like he's often mentioned himself, so most of the stuff he's talking about is that he saw at 3D realms or things they are doing finishing the game ironing bugs and that

Yeah, I'm guessing it will be around there too. It will be fun but reviewers will put it down for being retro, meaning that it won't look generic as hell and have a cover system. I'm ok with something in the 70s range though.

            I agree with 80.

It'll be like Chinese Democracy - every review was 4/5. There's been too much money spent on the game and too many people willing to keep working on it to be a total turd, but it won't be the Jesus Christ of gaming it would need to be to justify the wait.

Guy from work played Duke, Gears 3 and Crysis 2 at the Gadget show live. He was generally positive despite encountering bugs (sometimes weapons would disappear when switched, couldn't find ammo for rpg, game wouldn't end etc). Visuals were 'acceptable' and the Duke character was amusing (hadn't played the original). Would wait for a review before buying.
