The 3rd Birthday Coming March 29

Square Enix announced in a press release today that The 3rd Birthday will be coming to the retail stores on March 29, for $29.99. The game continues the story of Aya Brea from the hit Parasite Eve series.

Included in the announcement was word that Yvonne Strahovski from NBC's Chuck will be voicing Aya. "I love Aya - she's strong, driven, and ready to take on the world," she said in the press release. Strahovski is building her video game resume, having played Miranda in Mass Effect 2. Meanwhile, Jensen Ackles of Supernatural will provide the voice for love interest Kyle Madigan.

The press release doesn't mention a PlayStation Network release, which may mean PSP Go users are out of luck. Square Enix has stuck with retail only before with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, so it wouldn't be surprising. We've inquired about a PSN version with Square Enix, and will update as information becomes available.

Why do these Japanese games play so weird? You have this stadium like setting where a fight happens, and then there is story, and another stadium-pause-motion fight and rinse and repeat. There is nothing interesting in playing games like that.
