Big iOS Releases Coming Tonight: Riven, Aralon, World of Goo, Dungeon Defenders and More

3
Though the release schedule for consoles and PC have dried up, there are some major titles coming out today for iPhone and iPad. It's a great day to be an iOS gamer, depending on your capacity to deal with touchscreen controls (via TouchArcade).

All of these games are currently out in New Zealand, which is usually the first region to unlock new apps and games on the App Store. Other recent releases include SimCity Deluxe, Dungeon Hunter 2, and Infinity Blade. Today's new games are:

Title: Riven: The Sequel to Myst
Price: $5.99
Developed for: iPhone
Description:
Riven is a classic point-and-click adventure game filled with puzzles and a definite classic. The original game, Myst, is also available on iOS for $4.99. The download for Riven clocks in at around 1GB so be prepared to stay in WiFi range for a while. Both games were ported by the original developer, Cyan Worlds.

Title: Aralon: Sword and Shadow HD
Price: $6.99
Developed for: iPhone and iPad (Universal)
Description:
Aralon is an ambitious RPG project by Crescent Moon Games and Galoobeth Games. It promises tons of customization, RPG action, and over 35 hours of gameplay. It also looks great!

(Releasing tonight)

Title: World of Goo
Price: $9.99
Developed for: iPad
Description:
2D BOY's amazing indie puzzle game, World of Goo, is now available as an iPad application. It also helps that it looks amazing running on the iPad and fits in nicely with the device's touch interface. Some hands-on gameplay footage can be viewed below courtesy of TouchArcade.

(Releasing tonight)

Title: Dungeon Defenders: First Wave
Price: $2.99
Developed for: iPhone and iPad (Universal)
Description:
This is an Unreal Engine 3-powered game (the second available after Infinity Blade), which merges a customization-based action-RPG with the tower defense genre. Furthermore, it features drop-in/drop-out multiplayer for up to four players through GameCenter.

(Releasing tonight)

Title: Real Racing 2
Price: $9.99
Developed for: iPhone
Description:
Firemint's racing sequel is getting a massive upgrade over the original, especially if you've got an iPhone 4 with the snazzy Retina Display. The game features 16 car races between 30 officially licensed cars, a career mode with 10 hours of gameplay, and local and online multiplayer.

(Releasing tonight)

Title: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Price: $.99
Developed for: iPhone
Description:
This port of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 features 14 campaign missions and four-player online multiplayer. It probably isn't going to be as good as some of the other games on this list (or its PC/console brother), but it's releasing for just 99 cents!

(Releasing tonight)

Title: N.O.V.A. 2
Price: $6.99
Developed for: iPhone
Description:
Gameloft's Halo rip-off homage is back with a sequel that will probably include a lot of new things quite close to what we saw in Halo: Reach. Besides Gameloft's gratuitous theft, the first N.O.V.A. was quite good. This sequel comes with 12 chapters for singleplayer and 10-player online multiplayer. Oh, and their version of Uncharted also comes out later today.

(Releasing tonight)

Title: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
Price: $6.99
Developed for: iPhone
Description:
The PC, PSN, and XBLA game featuring Lara Croft and Totec is coming to the iPhone out of no where! I'm not sure how it will play on the iPhone, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the franchise.

(Releasing tonight)

There are a lot more games coming out tonight that we haven't listed here, but you can find the full list at TouchArcade. It includes lower-profile gems like Geared 2, Hook Worlds, Altered Beast, Broken Sword - The Smoking Mirror, and even The Game of Life

getting Dungeon Defenders, not so sure about World of Goo at that price considering I already own it.

Bad Company doesn't look or play like BC on PC/Consoles, not that interested from what I've seen. That Lara Croft game looks like it has virtual analog sticks which is lame.
