[Update: 3:45pm] Team Meat's Edmund McMillen told Shacknews--regarding the delay--"The size limit is a huge issue. We are looking into our options and talking things over with Nintendo to see what we can do," adding, "We are trying to deal with these issues with the mind set of making the best version of the game as possible above all else."

[Original Story] Team Meat have dropped a big, rancid ball of meaty disappointment on Wii owners today, revealing that the WiiWare version of Super Meat Boy will not make its scheduled November release.

Revealing the delay via its official Twitter account, Team Meat says a November release is "impossible." The two-man, dev crew cites file-size limitations as the cause for the release date slip. "We havent [sic] even gotten the size down under 50mb yet," the Twitter message reads, adding the goal for Super Meat Boy's WiiWare debut is 39mb.

Shacknews has contacted Team Meat to see if they can give us a time-frame on the game's Wii debut, along with a few questions regarding the reception of Super Meat Boy on Xbox Live Arcade and the game's upcoming PC launch--scheduled for the end of November.

Shack has yet to hear back at the time of publishing.

It just wouldn't be true to the nature of Super Meat Boy if the release itself didn't encounter a challenge.

I wish all front page comments were as insightful as this one.
