Evening Reading

I tend to pick a few games and play them obsessively instead of sampling a little bit of everything that is out there. It isn't the best thing for my job, sure, but it's just the type of gamer I am. I spent most of the weekend's gaming time alternating between StarCraft II multiplayer and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift.

I also picked up Puzzle Quest 2 on the DS. I was hoping to wait until the iPhone version was released, but with a bunch of work travel coming up and no release date for the iPhone... well, now I have a perfect travel game. Also, QuakeCon... who's going to let me play SC2 on their computer in the LAN area? I'm only bringing my MacBook and, while capable, isn't ideal for ladder play!

so it's nice in SC2 when your partner leaves you get his money. Makes for a nice ling flood possibility for a last gasp attempt at a comeback

In a 2v2 match, if your partner leaves the game or is disconnected, you recieve his minerals and gas. In a 3v3, the resources are split amongst remaining teammates.

It's kinda neat. You still have all the numbers, so it's still possible to win if you play your cards right. Many people don't realize this and underestimate their new solo opponent. Still, resources or not, 1 person playing against 2 opponents isn't easy. The extra cash helps even things out.

        I fucking love SC2.

A lot of people forget about money sharing and share control. It's really useful if for example a zerg player is going mass muta and someone has extra gas.

Highest I've ever seen my APM was right after that happened to me. I won the match too! (though we were pretty ahead, pretty sure my partner got d/c'd and didn't just quit).

Can request them which is great too. It's a quick click for the other guy fulfilling the request.

i'd like to see a game where one guy does nothing but expand like crazy, siphoning resources to the other guy who does nothing but pump out units. it wouldn't be terribly viable (the second guy would have to defend the first guy's expansions) but it would be fun to watch

will that remove you from the game or just start your supply back to zero for both?

neither. you can specify how much of each you want to transfer

You can give a specific amount, and it will just remove that and give it to him instantly. You stay in the game.

I had a 2v2 where my Terran teammate lost connection at the beginning of the game so I just put his SCVs to work and used our combined resources to mass Marines and beat 2 Protoss enemies who were setting up a proxy zealot rush. Once I overwhelmed their proxy they GGd out. Obviously they weren't the greatest players but neither am I so it felt good. :)

I make all my SC2 partners sign a pre-nup before the match starts.

Goatrope was doing this a few nights back for 2v2s.

Dude would disconnect and he would throw down a 6 pool at 14 seconds into the game.

      =D

The first reaction might be to just quit if your teammate drops early but it's worth seeing what you can make happen out of it.
