First Deus Ex: Human Revolution Screenshot Hits

After taking the wraps off Deux Ex: Human Revolution and its E3 2010 trailer, publisher Square Enix has now officially released the first screenshot from the shooter prequel.

The image seems to confirm the legitimacy of the other screenshots that somehow (and apparently unofficially) began making the rounds last week, as it was among the pictures in that batch. Here are the others.

Other screenshots that, while not officially released, have been making the rounds.

Developed by Eidos Montreal--the same studio working on Thief 4--Deus Ex: Human Revolution is scheduled to hit PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in "Early 2011."

Its 2010. Look at this screenshot:

Teh light is above the table. Yet their shadows are going toward it...
I am finding this less acceptable than I used to.

i see no shadows going towards sir need to look harder, look at the cup on the side...also just in case you missed the guy at the back has a light casting on his arm which indicates there is also a slight light source from behind causing the slight shadow on the books on the desk

I think you're misreading the lighting in that shot. There are at least three direct light sources casting shadows in various directions, not just a single light above the table. You're may also be mistaking ambient occlusion methods for cast shadows.

Maybe. It is a common problem though.

With baked in lighting, sure. Not so much with dynamic lighting, and I see nothing wrong here.

The "shadows" from the books is ambient occlusion. The effect looks a bit exaggerated because it's very GPU intensive as it stands.
