Evening Reading

Phase 1 of the StarCraft II beta ends today (or maybe early tomorrow morning) and E3 isn't going to plan itself... but that new iPhone looks pretty snazzy-pants.

One of the most awesome aspects of Dungeon Siege is that there are no levels as such, everything is seamlessly loaded into the game, so that you can run from the start of the game world to the end and back without seeing any kind of load screen. The game world is pretty massive, and the game's multiplayer world was like 33% larger than the main game and was every bit as detailed. There is a truly massive amount of content in the game.

Also the leveling mechanic was interesting as well. To get better at doing something, you just do it and your skills/attributes increase automatically

Shit I forgot about the multiplayer. It was fun as hell and definitely ruthless at times.

hilarious and fun. Although the wow factor of taking of the minion in first person view is somewhat subdued nowadays.

First one was bad ass, it had some useful improvements over D2. Especially the pack mule which can fend for itself.

Also a party system. The music was epic too.

DS2 was not as good. Space Siege was crap however the game was 'polished' meaning it had like no bugs, at least that I encountered, when it came out. I only played it for 5 hours but the game had little depth and was too easy.

no loading screens on the first one was a big deal back then... this game needs to be on steam or gog or something

yeah a little bit of me died when i saw that Square was publishing it...especially after supcom 2.... and obsidians been iffy for me, not bad but not ZOMG good either just meh.

That and the console part makes me really worry......even though it is one of the few that i think could work on consoles they always seemed to feel watered down.

I can't remember why, but I stopped playing DS2 about halfway through.

I do remember how great the graphics engine looked at the time.

Dungeon Keeper is the one that *really* needs the sequel.
