12

As is customary for this time of the week, various digital distribution outlets have temporarily marked down some PC and Mac titles in anticipation of the weekend.

This week's got a little bit of everything--from heavyweight transport simulation and space rifles to Determinance and Vin Diesel--as you'll discover by perusing the list:

Sup Com already 50%? Didn't take long to put that POS in the bargain basement. Talk about a failure.

If someone was looking to pick that up, ask yourself if you liked Sup Com 1. If you said yes, you'll hate Sup Com 2. If you said no, you'll hate Sup Com 2.

    See how that works? :P

I can't agree - I'm not fully finished with it yet but it just has a different feel. It's not by any stretch of the imagination a "POS." I'm not saying it's game of the year but it's been pretty solid so far.

Also - the interface is probably the sleekest, sharpest UI I've ever enjoyed for a RTS title. Very impressive (of course that's not everything but it IS something).

Dunno, they managed to ruin just about everything I loved about SupCom1, except the strategic zoom. It's almost impressive that they f*cked it up that badly.

It's a good game, just not as great as it's predecessor. They sacrificed depth and unique ideas for accesibility. Honestly, any gamer should hate the word accessibility because it means dumbing down what makes games great. SupCom2 is a good game, but it sacrifices what made it's predecessors fun and unique to a somewhat flavored C&C clones. People loved Total Annihilation and Supcom for their unique identity.

The UI was pretty good in Supcom and it got even better in the expansion, Forged Alliance. My opinion, one of the best UI's in an RTS. Most game UI's nowadays are trying to go to the less is more. Personally I that you can only make something so simple that it really doesn't serve it's purpose anymore.

My thanks for the compliments! It was a difficult challenge to work on both PC and X360 UI concurrently within the timeframe/other constraints. Glad someone liked it!

For $11, it's worth it. There are a few mods that can take the edge off the bad stuff, but so far no help on maps.
That's the one problem right now, and it's a huge one. If they release dedicating modding/mapping tools soon, I'll be alright. If they don't, I'll never buy another game from them unless it's universally acclaimed AND the mod/mapping tools are already released.
