Phantasy Star Portable 2 Due This Fall

Released in Japan in December 2009, Alfa System's action-RPG sequel Phantasy Star Portable 2 (PSP) is on its way to North America and Europe and will hit sometime this fall, publisher SEGA announced today.

Unlike the original Phantasy Star Portable, which featured offline local wireless multiplayer, the sequel packs four-person online multiplayer in addition to the standard single-player campaign. "A new in-depth storyline, enhanced combat system, new weapons and character customization options" are all on tap, according to SEGA.

"Phantasy Star Portable 2 takes place three years after the exciting Phantasy Star Universe saga," SEGA said of the story in today's announcement, explaining that the residents of the Gurhal System are now "confronted with dwindling resources."

I really liked the first game but no one I know bought the game so no local multiplayer for me. Definite purchase for me.

Personally, I like to see a remake of the original Phantasy Star! Who wouldn't want that? I think there was one that came out with some kind of Phantasy Star collection pack for the PS2 a number of years ago. Only in Japan though, and never translated to English.

Um, yes. And there's a translation, but it's taking forever to finish.
