I'm not even into those games and I still think that's a cool thing they are doing. What are some other older games that should be released for free? Keep in mind that Tiberian Sun is 11 years old.

Ground Control was released for free on FilePlanet many moons ago
Tribes 1 and 2 had the same thing

        And Hidden & Dangerous!

Plus 3D Realms has released a bunch of older games for free. Sierra actually released their Amiga adventure games (all the way up to King's Quest 6) for free for the longest time. Derek Smart always releases his older stuff for free after a while.

There's been a bunch of free releases on various mag cover discs. Deus Ex, Ultima IV, Wizardry VII, Thief 2, Red Baron, and more.

God Tribes 1 is still one of my favorite MP games ever. So loved that game.

Not really. Depends on how you view the legality of EULAs

yea, that was because of the wording of the EULA, which people always seem to like to argue isn't legally enforceable so it actually doesn't mean anything. It was never officially released for free. Die By the Sword and Limb From Limb had the same clause in the original EULAs, IIRC.
