EA Readying 'Popular and Fun' Kindle Games, Reportedly Working on New Apple Tablet

As rumors of Apple unveiling a new tablet device next week continue to swirl, The Wall Street Journal reports that video game colossus Electronic Arts is working with Apple "to show off the tablet's game capabilities."

Electronic Arts has already brought many major franchises to Apple's iPhone and iPod touch devices, including Tetris, Command & Conquer, Need for Speed, NBA Live, Madden NFL, Littlest Pet Shop, Charm Girls Club, FIFA, The Sims, Mass Effect, SimCity, Spore, Rock Band, Battleship, Connect 4, Monopoly and Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

Rumors suggest Apple's new device will serve as an e-book, newspaper and magazine reader in addition to the expected multimedia and gaming functionality.

Electronic Arts is also among those working with Amazon.com, the two announced today, as the online retailer seeks to expand its monochrome e-book reader Kindle with "active content" later this year. "We look forward to bringing some of the world's most popular and fun games to Kindle and their users," noted EA Mobile's Adam Sussman.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

nah, the announcement of the apple tablet was announced some 7-10 days ago. and everybody guessed it'd basically be a large iPhone, 'cause it's gonna run the iPhone OS.

It hasn't been officially announced as far as I can tell. But there are tons of rumours and very good indicators of Apple heading that way. Jan 27, they are going to have an Apple press conference and talk about some of the new stuff headed our way. The buzz on the net is that they are going to finally reveal the Apple tablet and also a new version of iLife and perhaps some stuff about iPhone OS 4. Or maybe they'll announce the end of the AT&T exclusivity deal!
