New Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising Trailer

Codemasters sends along a second Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising trailer which, like the first, is of the CGI variety using in-game models. The trailer shows a full-scale battle between US marines and the People's Liberation Army of China.

There are also some "target render" screenshots from the game, which is expected to be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2009.

Why am I watching this? Prerendered action cutscenes are for idiots.

I think cutscenes are created in order to inspire the game makers; give them something to shoot for in terms of action, intensity, and look of their game.

I know Crytek did this. They had the folks over at Blizzard create a couple CGI short movies for them. Amazingly enough, Crytek's finished game is VERY close to the original Blizzard CGI shots.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I have posted comments like this before.. These trailers sure are pretty, but they don't make me want to buy the game because of them. If they showed 30 seconds of live action, I would have been 100% more excited.. I liked the first one very much and I will look into this one as well.. Hopefully we see some real action soon.

      I agree.

I really doubt Codemasters is going to pull this off without BIS shackled to them again. They will fire up their hype mill and then spam more doctor'ed hype. Every game I've purchased from them has been short on delivery, poor support and the developers got screwed. Fortunately those developers moved on to better publishers, but I don't see Codemasters changing their ways.

Not getting my money or anyone I know.
