Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Thermal Video Bonanza

Ubisoft today released a pair of videos showing off new thermal features in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2. The tactical shooter is set to hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 18, with the PC version following a bit later.

"Thermal Vision goggles combined with a smoke grenade are quite useful against lesser equipped enemies that have no goggles of their own," says Vegas 2 product manager Carl Caldareri. "You or your teammates can throw a smoke grenade into a room filled with enemies to visually impair them so you can flank them with ease."

Click on through for a look at the thermal scan feature.

"[The thermal scan] feature is shown through a picture-in-picture (PIP) interface at the top right hand corner of the screen," explains Ubisoft Montreal designer Philippe Therien. "The PIP shows a blueprint of the area you are navigating and identifies all enemy targets using their thermal signature. You and your teammates are identified differently using white and green symbols respectively."

Vegas is light years from being a tactical shooter, the series once was, until it got consolized.

it looks basically like COD4 gunplay mixed with Gears of War's cover system and set in the Rainbow Six faux-reality.

CoD4 is a fast moving grenade fest. R6:V is a slow moving grenade fest. They are completely different games.
