For several weeks, it has been widely known that Arkane Studios' first person PC roleplaying game Dark Messiah of Might & Magic is in development for Xbox 360. Hammering those reports home, media for the game has been available through Xbox Live Marketplace for the past week. Today, publisher Ubisoft finally officially announced Dark Messiah of Might & Magic: Elements, the Xbox 360 verison of the game due out next year. Along with the announcement came a new trailer and a round of screenshots.

Elements is being developed by Ubisoft Annecy, the studio behind the multiplayer components of numerous Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell games. Original developer Arkane Studios will be contributing to the project. Today's announcement notes that Ubisoft Annecy will be refining various gameplay and design elements of the original game, as well as adding Xbox Live support and new multiplayer maps. Like its PC counterpart, Element is powered by Valve's Source engine.

Ubisoft plans to ship Dark Messiah of Might & Magic: Elements for Xbox 360 in Q1 2008.

This was probably one of the most unsung wonders I've played in recent years. Spectacular game.

I wanted to grab it, but I heard about non-stop bugs and the demo crashed the living hell out of my machine. Hopefully the 360 version is more stable.

Indeed. Too bad the multiplayer didn't live up to the singleplayer experience. I was hoping for something along the lines of CS:S RPG mod, only more refined, but it didn't live up to that nor to anything else for that matter.
