Painkiller Expansion Gold

As you'd expect from a game that's due to show up in stores on the 11th, DreamCatcher Games today announced that Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell has gone gold. The expansion pack comes with an updated game engine, 10 new singleplayer levels, and various new multiplayer maps & modes.

Wow, heh, they better hustle to get it on the shelves in 3 days.

But seriously... would you want to launch an expansion pack right in between 2 of the biggest FPS launches in gaming history?

I have a feeling this game will be one of many casualties of this overcrowded retail season. I'll most likely be picking this up, but probably not for quite some time.

  Dreamcatcher probably needs to show some earnings for this fiscal quarter and PK is their strongest product in retail (I think). I don't beleive they have anything else of note coming up unless you count that Adventure gaming subsidiary.

  Then again maybe the substantially lower price will get more people buying it.
