Civ 3 Patch Redux

6
It looks like there are some big problems with the 1.16f original patch for Civ 3. If you downloaded it the first night from Civ3.com or downloaded it from a mirror after that, you may just have the "wrong" version of 1.16f. How do you tell if you have the right version? The installer for the right version is 7,663,795 bytes (as opposed to 7,663,745 bytes). The actual Civilization3.exe size is exactly the same size (which is how the wrong version got out) and they didn't up the version number for this slipstream release. So unless you kept the installer download, it's pretty much impossible to tell if your patch is broken from looking at the files. Here are the very important install instructions from the website:
The previously posted (12/7/2001) patch contained an incorrect executable. This patch is the correct v1.16f. If you downloaded and applied the earlier patch, please download this new patch and apply it.

If you installed the previous patch, the first time you run this patch it will uninstall the earlier patch. Let InstallShield complete its uninstallation, then run this new patch again.

In case you're wondering, the differences are apparently some crash bugs, and just about anything that draws lines (settler borders and diplomacy lines) are not drawn in the "broken" patch. The updated patch can be downloaded here.
