Fire Emblem Engage unites heroes for January release date

Tuesday's Nintendo Direct kicked off with the next entry in the Fire Emblem franchise. Fire Emblem Engage will gather together dozens of heroes with the express purpose of confronting and taking down the powerful Fell Dragon.

Fire Emblem Engage's story is set one thousand years after the Fell Dragon was originally sealed away by four kingdoms of heroes. This cataclysmic threat is on the verge of reawakening and it's up to the Divine Dragon to put an end to the nightmare of the Fell Dragon for good. The most intriguing aspect of this latest entry in the Fire Emblem series is that players will call upon heroes from its past to do battle, including Marth and Celica, just to name a few.

Engage will feature more of the tactical gameplay that Fire Emblem fans have grown to love. This will be the first strategy game in the franchise since 2019's Fire Emblem: Three Houses. There have been a few side steps into other genres, including Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, which release earlier this year.

Nintendo won't keep fans waiting for too long on this one. Fire Emblem Engage will come exclusively to Nintendo Switch on January 20. A special Divine Edition will feature a steelbook case and art book and can be pre-ordered at various retailers, including the Nintendo eShop.
