The upcoming entry in the long running action-RPG Tales franchise from Bandai Namco was shown in more detail with a new trailer that debuted at Summer Game Fest 2021. Tales of Arise is only a few months away with a release date set for September 10 and Bandai Namco has unveiled a fresh look at some gameplay and story dialog. Tales of Arise is set to release September 10, 2021 on PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series consoles, and PC.
The Tales series of action-RPGs has been a tentpole for Namco (now Bandai Namco) for over 25 years, bringing real-time battles full of unique characters and themes across its main titles and many spin-offs. Originally debuting on the SNES in 1995, Tales of Phantasia started a long running franchise that would gain notable foothold in Japan, and would pick up traction in the West following the release of Tales of Symphonia on the Nintendo GameCube. Since Symphonia, the Tales series has grown in popularity while still playing third-fiddle to the likes of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.
Once considered indefinitely delayed, Tales of Arise was one of the many games affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Bandai Namco is now poised to release its biggest adventure yet for Tales fans around the world with Tales of Arise. We got a new look at the game with a trailer during Summer Game Fest 2021.
Several protagonists introduce themselves over the course of this new trailer and follow up with a bit of gameplay action teases for each one. One character notes, in a bit of fourth-wall breaking, that "this crew just gets bigger and bigger", and that seems to be no exaggeration. We also get to see a few moments of real-time battles and bits of story dialog from various characters.
