New M1-powered Apple iPad Pro can use PS5 DualSense haptic feedback

Apple hosted its Spring Loaded virtual event today and took the opportunity to show off its updated iPad Pro lineup with the new M1 processor. One of the coolest new features supported by the new iPad Pro is support for console gamepads. Specifically, the PS5’s DualSense pad can be paired to the new iPads and make use of haptic feedback.

This new development was revealed as part of the iPad Pro reveal presentation. The DualSense and Xbox Series X gamepads were already able to be paired with previous-generation iPad Pros and other iOS devices, though support for advanced features like the haptic feedback of the DualSense was not included. Many of the DualSense features now work on PC via the use of community-provided workarounds, though this does not apply to the haptic feedback.

Apple’s announcement would mark the first device other than the PS5 to make full use of the DualSense. The company did not provide any details on the controller support, save for a single snippet from the iPad Pro press release:
