2K Games has announced that Borderlands 3 has achieved some impressive milestones since its debut.

In just the first five days of launch, 2K announced the game has sold in more than 5 million units, which means the franchise has generated over $1 billion in net bookings and has become the second franchise in 2K history to do so. It also became the fastest-selling game in 2K's history and the highest-selling title for the label on PC in a five-day window.

The game's success also signifies 2K's highest percentage of digital sales for a cross-platform and cross-distribituion title, as over 70 percent of customers purchased the game in digital form during its first five days on the market. As if that weren't enough, it also took the top position on Twitch for Most-Watched Game on launch day, not straying out of the top five since it launched. It has spawned over 14 million hours of content viewed on Twitch. That means it also has already generated half the views Borderlands 2 had in its lifetime on the platform.

Previously, Josh Hawkins reviewed Borderlands 3 and gave it a 9 out of 10. Here's what he thought about it:

"The Borderlands formula might be a bit dated with its raunchy jokes and cheesy dialogue, but that doesn’t change that it is a formula that keeps reeling players back in again and again. Despite the fact that I’ve already logged over 40 hours in the game, I still can't help but feel the want to dive back in with a new character just to experience it all again. But beating the campaign doesn’t bring the story to an end. There’s still plenty of great content to devour after that final boss fight, including True Vault Hunter mode, and plenty of great side quests featuring some of the best characters ever found in the series. Whether you’re an old fan who has played all the previous games, or a brand-new fan just diving into the series, Borderlands 3 is an absolute masterpiece that will bring you hours upon hours of fun."

Borderlands 3 is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Let us know how you feel about the game in the comments below.
