The Sims 4 5th anniversary update adds Muslim-inspired content and more

The Sims 4 is celebrating their fifth anniversary with a special update. Players are in for a treat as the team at Maxis has pushed out all sorts of great content. One of the most noticeable additions to The Sims 4 is the new Muslim-inspired content. Also, people seem to be really jazzed about configurable stairs.

The Sims 4 launched 5 years ago and has been adding a ton of content with semi-regular updates. This 5th anniversary update is full of things, and EA sat down with SimGuruGraham, a producer on the game, to find out more about what's new in The Sims 4. "When we discussed adding a set of clothing and objects to celebrate The Sims 4’s fifth anniversary, we wanted to ensure the things we created would contain fun references to The Sims, but would still be versatile additions that could be incorporated into any wardrobe or home." Graham continued, "Incorporating clothing and architectural elements inspired by Muslim culture was an opportunity for some of us on the team to learn from others and provide more ways for our players to tell stories in game that are relevant to their own experiences."

It is great to see The Sims 4 including representations of Muslim culture in the game natively, as many fans had to use mods to achieve similar looks before. Graham also talked about the new hot stair tech in the 5th anniversary update. "For me personally, it’s all about the configurable stairs. You can now take any set of stairs in the game and turn it 90 or 180 degrees. The tools for adjusting this are really intuitive, as well. You just grab the middle of the stairs and bend, and a landing will be created. You can then drag that landing up and down the stairs to adjust its height. You can even turn a single set of stairs a second, third, fourth . . . really, there’s no limit to the number of times they can be bent."

The Sims 4 5th anniversary update is live now, so get to building stairs and wearing hijabs. Thanks to baron calamity for bringing this to our attention with his Chatty thread.
