Co-developed with Capcom, Teppen is an online card battle game where players command units in real time. With over-the-top attacks and tons of dynamic action, Teppen has been making quite a name for itself. To help spice things up a bit, GungHo is hosting the first ever Teppen Invitational this year at PAX West and it’s going to include a fairly substantial $23,000 prize pool.

The Teppen Invitational is set to take place this weekend at PAX West and will include several fighting game champions like Victor “Sp00ky” Fontanez, Kenny “Unrooolie” O’Brien, Christopher “NYChrisG” Gonzales, and Justin “JWong” Wong.

Teppen fight card

For those not aware of exactly what Teppen is, it’s basically an online card battle game that allows players to take control of various heroes from popular games like Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, and several other popular franchises under the Capcom umbrella. Since its release just a little over a month ago, Teppen has garnered over 2 million downloads, making it a verifiable success for both GungHo and Capcom.

Those interested in seeing more of Teppen can head to Booth #825 during PAX West, where GungHo will be showing off several new cards, some balance updates, and even a new playable hero—the iconic Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil series. If a card game with tons of great Capcom heroes sounds like something you’d enjoy, then be sure to head over to the official website to learn more about the game. GungHo is also currently working on a brand new DLC called the Day of Nightmares, which is set to launch sometime in September of this year.

PAX West is kicking off this weekend and it’s definitely a good time to catch up with developers and try out some of the most anticipated games of the year. Make sure you keep your eyes glued to Shacknews on Twitter, where we’ll have plenty of PAX West coverage from our team on the ground.
