Fortnite Season 10 trailer teases time-traveling adventure

Published , by Brittany Vincent

With Fortnite Season 10 just around the corner, Epic Games has finally seen fit to give us a better look at what to expect when it finally drops.

Except now we're going to be calling it Season X, apparently, as the latest story trailer basically insists. Hey, it's just like the iPhone X/iPhone 10 debacle, right?

The latest story trailer paints a picture of the time travel narrative we've been thinking might happen, especially as character Jonesy is shown running away from a massive glowing orb (the same we've seen above Loot Lake lately). When the orb explodes, Jonesy is sent hurtling through space and time to what we can only surmise is some sort of alternate universe, given all the goodies that float by him on his journey "back."

By the end of the video, we see Jonesy hanging out by Dusty Depot, which most of you will know has been transformed into Dusty Divot as of a comet crashing into the area in an earlier season. What does all this mean? Why can Jonesy move but not everything else? What can we expect from this new season?

We'll have to check it all out when Season X finally goes live tomorrow, August 1. And if you're still wondering what's next for competitive play, fear not – that's coming, too. Though the Fortnite World Cup is over, that doesn't mean the end of Fortnite competition, though. Epic announced during the World Cup that competitive play would keep chugging forward with the debut of the Fortnite Championship Series, which the developer noted that "every result matters" in.

We're not sure what that means just yet, either, but all will be revealed very soon. In the meantime, keep it locked to Shacknews for additional updates.
