Once the many announcements, reveals, and panels during this year’s QuakeCon 2019 came to a close, The Great Quakeholio Tournament 2 kicked off a night full of excitement. Hosted live from the Gaylord Texan Hotel Lone Star Tower, the tournament featured action from multiple classic games that are near and dear to the hearts of QuakeCon attendees. The grand prize of $6000 was awarded to the Grand Champion, who defeated the 31 other entrants, starting in 4-player Quake Champions deathmatch combat.

Following lots of hectic action in rounds two and three, there would be four remaining combatants. These select participants began 1v1 Score Attack matches in the id Software classic Wolfenstein 3D. In this semifinal round, each competitor began cleanly from the start of the game and was given a fixed timer, with the two highest scores of each match advancing to the finals of The Great Quakeholio Tournament. The two entrants who would be eliminated during this round would later compete for the third prize of $1000 during the finals.

As the semifinal round of four drew to a close, two combatants in The Great Quakeholio Tournament remained. These players, Rastsy and discoRyne moved on to grand finale of the tournament to battle each other in a classic Quake 1v1 deathmatch. With the $6000 grand prize on the line, these players buckled down and delivered the goods for those in attendance and the many watching live on Twitch.

At the end of the finals deathmatch, Rastsy stood victorious, taking home the $6000 grand prize. discoRyne was also rewarded for his gaming excellence and took home the second prize of $3000. Following the crowning of the new Great Quakeholio Tournament Champion, Shacknews CEO Asif Khan gave Rastsy the chance to double his earnings in a 1v1 Quake deathmatch. Should Rastsy kill Khan 50 times, his prize purse gets doubled. Check out the highlight above for all the drama from the post-tournament wager.
