Batman is without a doubt one of the most iconic and most recognizable fictional characters of all time. Initially created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger back in 1939, Bruce Wayne has been the shining star of a countless number of comics, television series, and films. This year marks the 80th anniversary of when audiences first met Batman. San Diego Comic Con was home to a museum celebrating the character’s rich history, and we got to take a look inside.
“The Batman Experience” holds several props and items from Bruce Wayne’s history. For example, in the video, you can see the different iterations of the Batman costume that’s appeared throughout his live action movie adaptations. The costume that Michael Keaton wore in his first outing as the Dark Knight back in 1989 can be seen on display, along with a brief description. Tim Burton’s “Batman” wasn’t the first time we saw the protector of Gotham in live action, but it was the first time we saw him in a high budget blockbuster. This take on the character raised the bar and set a new standard for what comic book movies could be.
Not only is Batman an iconic character on his own, but he’s also got quite a notable surrounding cast. The 80th anniversary museum features tributes to some of the Bat’s infamous enemies and loyal allies. There’s also action figures, video games, and arcade machines all themed around Batman and his eight decades of history.
